How to spend less time doing sh*t you hate
This month is all about examining and reflecting on how you are spending your time and how this aligns with your purpose and happiness.
So the big question is: are you spending most of your time doing things that make you happy, energize you, or fulfill your purpose? Or are you spending most of your time doing sh*t you hate?
If you worked through last weeks’ time tracking exercise, you already have a really clear picture of how you are spending your time and how those things make you feel. If not, that’s ok. Just write out a quick list of all the things you do throughout the week.
So, now what? Look at the things that DON’T make you happy and ask yourself these questions:
What can I eliminate altogether?
What can I delegate?
Can I hire someone to do this for me?
Is there a way to spend less time doing this and get the same result?
Am I getting enough sleep and waking up refreshed?
Can I limit screen time to specific times of the day?
Can I turn this activity into something fun?
Something I hear quite a bit is that the mundane stuff – errands, shopping, and cooking - take so much time away from things you really want to be doing. I absolutely agree! I hate errands and grocery shopping, and I am all about spending minimal time making a mess in the kitchen.
I’ve found that these are easy things to scale back on and free up more time to do the things you love!
There are so many grocery pick-up and delivery options now. What I have personally found with grocery delivery and meal delivery is even though some have delivery fees, I spend less money on impulse purchases.
In place of running errands, can you have the items delivered or do curbside pick-up? Most retail stores are offering curbside now.
Can you make cooking (and clean up) a fun roomie, partner, or family event?
Look for 10 or 20 minute recipes or 1 pan meals for quick and easy cooking and clean up
