Creating an Attitude of Gratitude

It’s no secret that a consistent gratitude practice comes with so many mental health and physical health benefits.

To learn more, check out my blog from last week.

Hopefully you have started to include a gratitude practice into your daily routine. Maybe you are focusing on including gratitude as part of your morning or evening routine or using it in the moment when you are feeling negative.

How can a gratitude practice enhance your outlook and approach to life?

  • It helps you to be more present

  • It helps shift your focus

  • You look at what you get to do vs what you have to do

  • You begin to appreciate the small or simple moments of happiness in addition to the big ones

  • You begin looking for the lessons or learnings from negative situations

So, how can you create an attitude of gratitude throughout your entire day?

  • Be present and aware of your surroundings – no multitasking, idling scrolling social media, etc

  • Take notice of things that make you smile and laugh (bonus points for writing them down)

  • Start and/or end your day with your gratitude journal

  • Replace saying “I have to…” with “I get to…”

  • Connect with someone that raises your vibration/energy level

Something I find really helpful is to ask myself:

What can I do to make today the best day it can be?

You can also apply this question to a part of your day, such as your work day, a task, a workout, etc.

All of these little shifts add up to BIG attitude and mindset changes.
