How to get back on track with your Goals

Desktop with pink and gold goal planning journal

It has been a unique year to say the least. Maybe your goals have been derailed by job loss, feeling lost, a pay cut, gym closures, feeling isolated from friends and family, or an overwhelming schedule to balance. Depending on where you live, things are back to varying percentages of normal.

Regardless of the reason, you are feeling like you need a reset and to get back on track. And girl, you don’t need a new week, a new month, or a new year (2020 is not over) to do it. You have right now!

Grab some paper or a journal and start jotting down the answers to these questions:

  • What area of your life is out of alignment or making you feel unhappy?

  • What triggered it?

  • What are you doing right now? Is it working/why is it not working?

  • What have you tried in the past?

  • Why did those things work or not work for you?

Now the questions get a little more complicated (and may require a little research)

  • What other options are out there that you have not tried yet?

  • Ask for help – Who do you know that is knowledgeable and could help you out?

  • Why is this goal important to you?

And now the fun details to make it happen

  • Pick one option to create a new habit or set a goal around

  • Create a realistic schedule that includes this new behavior

  • Tell people your goal and ask them to check in on your and help keep you accountable

  • Track your progress using a good, old fashioned journal or a habit tracker app

  • Celebrate your daily successes! (and be sure to forgive yourself if you miss a day. New habits take time to establish)
