How to Spring Clean your Relationships
You know the feeling. When you are around certain people you leave feeling completely drained, negative, sad, or angry.
And then there are other people in your life that make you laugh, inspire you, and motivate you. You feel ALIVE and energetic around these people.
Take inventory of your relationships and the people in your life.
For the people in your life that fall into that first category, what is causing you to feel negative emotions around them and how can you address or resolve it?
Something to keep in mind is that sometimes it’s actually NOT how that person is treating you, but it’s an emotion they are triggering in you. Maybe they are causing you to feel jealous or self-conscious. (We are all human, and it’s hard to stop the comparison game. Check out my blog post from last week on spring cleaning your mindset for some help with this).
On to the actual spring cleaning
do you need to have a discussion with the person about how they are making you feel?
do you need to set boundaries around your time, activities, or conversation topics?
if the first two options aren’t working, do you need to consider cutting the person out of your life?
Every relationship is unique, so really take some time to think about how you want to address the person with an end goal of your peace of mind and positive emotions.
